About Jean Monique

Jean Monique is 23 years old and totally loves reading books. She has lived most of her life at Parañaque, Philippines. With no province, so to speak, she dreams of someday acquiring a property in several provinces where she can spend vacations from time to time away from the hustle and bustle of Metro Manila.

She is a Registered Pharmacist who earned her degree at the University of the Philippines Manila. She currently works as a Pharmacist Trainer at Erikagen, Inc., the owner and operator of Generika Drugstores nationwide. She loves her job because she gets to meet a lot of people and gets to travel a lot. She is an advocate of responsible pharmacy practice and is rooting for the adaptation of the practice of clinical pharmacy not just in the hospital but also in the community setting. She also believes that the pharmacy profession greatly “needs improvement.” Being the experts in everything drug-related, pharmacists have a great role and a much greater responsibility in the improvement of the health of the Filipino people. Idealistic as that may sound, she firmly believes that when pharmacists work together they can uplift the image of the pharmacy profession in this country.

She is the eldest daughter among 5 children–yes, a big family. Though it’s a tough job, she salutes both her parents for raising them well. Job well done! She totally loves and adores her caring, loving–albeit, crazy–family.

She loves dogs and owns a long-haired black dachshund named Tikiwiki. The family also has 2 other dogs: Ginny (a half Japanese Spitz) and Rocky her brown-haired son who looks like a labrador but is actually a mongrel. When together, they look adorable with their black, white, and brown colors. 🙂

She is in a relationship with Rhalph, a programmer who she lovingly calls a geek. In terms of cartoons, he most identifies with Dexter (in Dexter’s Laboratory) and Jimmy Neutron. If you know the TV series “Big Bang Theory,” he has the personality and IQ of Sheldon Cooper. They have completely different personalities which is the cause of many arguments but also the reason why they complement each other so well.

She loves reading books and already has quite a collection. She dreams of having her own private library someday. Aside from being a bookworm, she is also a writer. She was a news writer for 5 years at The Manila Collegian, the official student publication of the University of the Philippines Manila. After 2 years as a writer, she then became a news editor, then a managing editor, then the Editor-in-Chief during her last year in the University.

Amidst all her accomplishments, she still continues to believe in her dreams and will do everything to achieve them. She believes in the adage “Dream big and aim high!” And she also believes in the saying, “Change starts with me.” As what Mahatma Gandhi said, “Be the change that you want to see in the world.”

Let’s all dream big and aim high!

xoxo,

Monique

Hi Jean, I saw your entry on the medical mission Generika organized together with PhilSeven and the Paranaque City government.

Just to let you know, I am writing a book on pharmaceutical product management and would like to ask your permission to use some of your pictures here as an example of what activities there are in the pharmaceutical industry.

Just like you I live in Paranaque and like writing.

    Regards.
    Edmund
